Editor Ratings come from our staff of hand-picked freelance editors. All of these editors have significant publishing experience. A number of them are former trusted colleagues. You can select the editors you want based on their professional bios. Remember that each Editor Rating is one opinion from one editor. Also, if you’re a writer and you revise a submission sample, you’ll lose all of your Ratings. In a publisher’s dashboard table, a “N/A” will appear next to the submission under the Editor Rating column.
Star Ratings are based on the editor reviewer’s assessment of a submission’s salability. In our style guide, we ask editors to put themselves in the shoes of an average consumer who is interested in the genre of the piece. Editors should ask themselves: How likely would it be for me to purchase this work (at a reasonable price) after reading the abstract and submission sample?
They are instructed to use the table below as a guide:

| 0 Stars | 0% (No interest) |
| 1 Star | 1% – 20% (Very little interest) |
| 2 Stars | 21% – 40% (Little interest) |
| 3 Stars | 41% – 60% (Some interest) |
| 4 Stars | 61% – 80% (Strong interest) |
| 5 Stars | 81% – 100% (Will this be cash or charge?) |
A batting average for Editor Ratings will be available soon. This tool should help you gauge how your submission matches up with other writers on the site.
