We’re pleased to announce a new collaboration with Eco-Libris, a fellow online business committed to reducing the environmental impact of the publishing industry. One of Pubmission’s primary goals as an online submissions tool has been to save some of the paper that’s wasted in the submission process. Now that we’re collaborating with Eco-Libris, we have the ability to plant five trees for every ream of paper we save.
Eco-Libris is committed to “sustainable reading.” More than 30 million trees are cut down each year to supply book production in the U.S. alone. When you visit their site, they make it easy for you to help counteract the deforestation that occurs so that we can enjoy the books we read. All you have to do is to choose how many books you want to balance out with Eco-Libris, pay for it online, and a tree will be planted in Central America or Africa for each of these books. You’ll then receive a sticker (made from recycled paper) for each book you balance out.
We urge you to visit Eco-Libris today to find out how you can contribute. They sum it up best: “Eventually (and hopefully sooner than later), all books will be made from recycled paper and other eco-friendly materials. But until then, we can still do something to make the world a greener place.”
