Her specialties include children's and teen fiction and nonfiction, general fiction, child care/parenting, cooking/food, education, gardening, memoir, some science, and travel. Her particular editing specialties are with big-picture, organizational and plot issues within a manuscript, but she can sweat the small stuff, too. Yes No

Melissa is a contributing freelance writer to national publications for Cultural and Performing Art with a home base in downtown Los Angeles. Published works and screen credits include “Oh God” for George Burns and Burns' many books, in addition to celebrity health and fitness books for Simon and Schuster. Literature teacher for 17 years with a private practice in grammar, composition and writing skills for adult professionals.

She's a finalist for the Ruth Lilly Fellowship, her poems have won Alligator Juniper’s 2011 National Poetry Prize, and her work has appeared in publications including The  Kenyon Review, Orion,  New England Review, Painted Bride Quarterly, and  many other journals.
