Make the simple switch to the best online submissions tool

Pubmission_editor

You’re only as good as the writing talent you recruit. That's why Pubmission believes editors and agents should remain the gatekeepers in publishing.

We don't select the submissions for you, but we save you valuable administrative time that your staff can better spend on creating quality products and meeting the deadlines that make you money.

There's nothing to lose!

Pubmission helps you migrate that pile of writing submissions (or that monstrously full e-mail inbox) from your office to an easily sortable/searchable online format without sacrificing your connection to new writers. You still can allow writers to send work to you directly based on your submission guidelines. But you can also take a proactive approach to submissions by searching the General Database for the writing that best matches your needs.

Pubmission is simple, easy to use, and best of all, you have nothing to lose. (Watch a demo to see how Pubmission works!)

What if I don’t have time to try something new?

Pubmission is designed to save you time now and in the future. Making the transition to Pubmission is quick, easy, and painless. You can take it as fast or slow as you like, but the sooner you start directing writers to submit work to you via Pubmission, the sooner you’ll start enjoying the benefits of:

  • Viewing all of the submissions writers have sent to you on one easily sortable web page.
  • Searching for the writers you want rather than waiting for them to come to you.
  • Rejecting works with a click of a button. (You can also send a personalized note.)
  • Setting reading periods or stopping and starting direct submissions at any time.
  • Getting second opinions from experienced editors on works submitted for Editor Ratings.
  • Spotting a potential best seller as soon as it arrives rather than the weeks it takes to find it buried in the slush.
  • Reducing your company’s paper usage.
  • Sighing with relief and knowing that Pubmission helps writers do their homework before they submit to you.

And because this is Slush Pile 2.0 — no more envelopes. No more file attachments, no web programming, no downloads. When you’re ready to make the full shift to Pubmission, place the link we provide on your submission guidelines page and watch that pile of paper shrink.

Publisher's DashboardHow it works...

Writers submit their works to Pubmission, along with a short pitch, bio, and descriptive tags/keywords. We show them the publishers that match up with them best, but they can send their works exclusively to any publisher they want. They can also upload their submissions into the general database for all subscribing editors and agents to see.

If they purchase Editor Ratings from our list of independent qualified experts in their genre, they can give you a quick idea of how salable their submissions are.

Once you've created an online profile, Pubmission will send you one weekly e-mail alert to keep you apprised of what submissions match your needs. Search the database any time or just wait for the e-mail. It's up to you.

Will Pubmission really save me time?

Because you can access all of your submissions from one easily sortable table from any Internet connection, it saves your staff the valuable administrative time it takes to open envelopes, log in submissions to your database, and send responses through the mail.

Plus, you can spot that next best seller the instant it arrives in your Dashboard rather than wait the weeks it might take to discover it hidden a pile of unopened mail.

What does the Publisher Dashboard do?

Your Publisher Dashboard (and your weekly e-mail alerts) list all submissions matching your profile.

  • At the top of this sortable table are the submissions that writers sent directly to you. See short abstracts for each submission and sort by Editor Ratings, Keyword Matches, and Response Deadlines.
  • Below the targeted submissions is a month's worth of general database manuscripts that match your current needs.

No SASEs required! Reject the submissions you don't want with a click of a button.

Search Pubmission's database for the types of work you want or for the submissions that are receiving the highest ratings from reviewers.

When you decide you like a writer's work, contact her via Pubmission's e-mail interface. Pubmission is anonymous, so you won't receive pestering e-mails or phone calls that make meeting your deadlines even harder.

Slush_PileBut I don't want two slush piles!

No, you most certainly do not. Pubmission is meant to replace your current slush pile with an efficient digital version. There's no need to manage both. And in this day and age, there’s no need  to keep killing trees for the sake of manuscript submissions.

How do you make the easy transition? Add a link to Pubmission to your submission guidelines web page and guide prospective writers away from the mailbox and back to their computers.

Freelance readers not required

Pubmission helps you with the initial review work—saving you the time and money it costs to hire freelance readers when the slush pile gets out of hand.

Unlike other sites that allow writers to post their works online, Pubmission employs qualified editors to assess the value of submissions — not just any reader or writer who has time to kill. Writers hoping to increase the marketability of their works purchase Editor Ratings from these independent editors who examine each work and rate it on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, based on what they believe is its salability. (Note: you can view the credentials of all reviewers.)

This makes it easy for you to spot what's hot on Pubmission at any time. Beat your competitors to the punch!

Tell writers what you want

Purchase rotating home-page space to advertise your current needs. Keep writers apprised of what you need from them. It's also a great way to generate more submissions that match your needs!

How much does it cost?

For access to all writers' submissions on the site, we ask that publishing professionals sign-up with a 1- or 2-year subscription plan. Visit our pricing page to get all the details, including our current special offer for beta testers.

Let us know what you think!

We want Pubmission to be a useful tool for you. And that's only going to happen if you let us know what you think. So This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , please!
